Hair Type Test

Hair

For hair - as well as face - it is equally important to provide a variety of active substances so that the hair remains smooth and shiny, but does not look greasy or sticky. It is important not only to cleanse them but also to moisturize and protect them against external factors.

Haircare is not fully possible and effective if it were not for the knowledge of their structure and needs. The key to properly selected care is the porosity of the hair, i.e. the ability to retain moisture and  distribution of the keratin protein to a cuticle (outer protective layer of the hair shaft  from the cortexThis has a significant impact on how their appearance and condition change.

Hair is divided into three types:

  • low porosity (scales adhere perfectly to the hair core)
  • medium porosity (scales are slightly tilted outwards)
  • high porosity (scales are maximally open)

The best way to determine hair porosity is through a microscope. But you can also do without it. We invite you to take a hair-type test.

There are several ways to determine your hair's anatomy and choose the right care. The best way to determine hair porosity is through a microscope. But you can also do without it. We invite you to take one or a few hair-type tests.

I. A Water Test

One of the most widespread is the water test.

It involves throwing hair into a glass of clean water and watching how quickly it will absorb water. Low porosity will float for a long time on the water surface, medium porosity in the part will sink, while high porosity will drown fastest. The reliability of this test is not 100% and depends on many factors (e.g. whether there is no hair residue).

II. A Flour Test

Immerse the hair in the flour, if after blowing it will still be a lot, it is high porosity, if not low.
